You've started the same arguement we hear all the time. Everybody will tell you which kite is the best but you can guarentee it will be the same kite as they are flying. The best thing you can do is go to your local kite shop and demo a few different kites. Most kites are now of a great standard and it is just a personal thing. Find a kite your happy with and I'm sure it will be good. I'd be looking for the right size to start with, then different types/models. At your weight I would suggest that if you added a 12 metre to your quiver of a 9 metre, you would have all wind conditions covered. Good luck

just keep in mind that this is not a good forum to ask what is the best kite because everyone has a different preference and will try to push them onto you.

12m would be the logical size. If you are happy with your current 9 crossbow then getting a 12 crossbow would make sense. Getting a totally different style or brand of kite would mean that you have to adjust your timing and get used to the different style each time you change size. If you do want a different kite then the only person who will you know what's right for you is you - So test them out!

You're better off spending the cash on another board(or two if you're lucky)

grab an old surfboard or tuff-lite, stick on some footpads(but not straps) and go surfing with your own personal tow in.
