Hello!

I will travel to Perth in october for about a year. Maybe anyone can tell me something about the wind conditions there. I have a 16 and a 11 (until 23 knots). Is that enough?

Thanks

Hi Dres,

The short answer is yes, if you only want to kite up to 23 knots. If however, you want to partake in our slightly stronger winds, you will also need a 9m. if you want to go a bit further north, also throw in a 6m

In a true West Oz summer, you wont need the 16m as our winds are generally 15-25kn and frequently above 25kn.

See ya and good winds,

Hello, my name is RAINER, I will also stay in Perth from October till April. I'll make an Internship near the UWA. Could anyone tell me which sizes the people normaly use at Pelicans Point. I've got a 9sqm Globerider Lift and a 14,5sqm Takoon Skoop III.
My weight is 72kg and I thought about buying a Impact 11 or Tribal 11, but I think i will go for the Impact because I heared it should be better for unhooked and turns faster. Or should I buy a 13 Impact and bring my GK Lift 9sqm with me.
Please give me some advice(11Impact or 13Impact+GK-lift 9) and tell which sizes you normaly use and recommand.

best regards

You German right? Just a guess.

9 should be fine, perhaps a touch small but not much. 11 would probably be better (correct me if I'm wrong). Do you have a good overlap between your 9 and 14.5?

Funny, last season there was also a German guy doing mechanical engineering that used to sail Peli just about eveyr day. You will need a 9 and about a 12. Wind at Peli is usually a little (about 5 knots) weaker than the beaches and usually blows afternoons.

Dres, the wind blows consistently over summer and blows quite hard, but dies down over winter, even though you still do get blows quite often. I got by with a 9 and an 13 over summer and I am 85kg, but pulled out my 17 in about May to catch the last of the sea breezes.

Fellas, sell your kites in Europe and buy all new ones over here. Treat yourself...you've come such a long way.

You will be most happy with a 3,7,9,12,14,and 18. I'll let you know where in Perth you can get them.
