anyone got suggestions / advice on kite surf boards. I live in Aspendale in Port Phillip bay Melbourne so 99% of the time ride a twintip. I'm amped to get a surf feel board for the waves thou. First thought was to get a kid size thruster around 5'8 - 5'10 (with FCS if poss) and throw a bit more glass at it for strength. Maybe I could do this for less than 300 bucks. Would love the new underground and the north rocketfish looked pretty sick but it's hard to justify 1200 on a board that won't get used much. Any ideas or comments on which of the purpose build kite surf boards works the best or whether it's worthwhile going the cheap route?

current design momentum is heading away from the mini directional / surfboard style boards for a surf application.
The small boards just dont have the drive in the surf to get vert without having to be super powered on the kite.
Lots of the guys that have got waves dialled are going to full size or near full size surf boards for the ultimate surf feeling. Just dont try and kite these boards with as much kite as on your twin tip - you want to use less kite and just me moderately powered if you want to maintain that loose surfing feel.
5'10 - 6'4 seems to be the magic range. AVOID thinned out boards as these have the drawbacks of the larger surboards (ie dont like to be powered in the upper half of your kites wind range) without the benefits (ie they lack drive)
