I live Melbourne and in the cold months the wind rarely gets above 8nts and the water is so freezing it makes kitesurfing certainly not enjoyable.
Are there any places in Australia that you can kite surf all year round???? The perfect place!
I need a reason to leave my job! And kite surfing is the only thing that I can think about lately it has taken over my mind. I think about it when I sleep and when I…….. Nah not really…… it’s good but not that good! Lol
And does anyone know any places world wide that you can kitesurf all year round!
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Warm high wind areas are found in northern WA.

But I would think that you can kite all year long anywhere along our coast if you are committed enough.

Consider Mackay. We tend to have wind all year round. Winterwe get blastering SE. Summer wind generally turns to NE. Mackay only had 15 still days (under 5knots) last year.

pack it up and move to the carribean. I went there during worst time of the year and got 13/14 days on a 10m.

In 2004 akl had 2 still days and well over 300 days with wind over 10 knots. I you are prepared to drive about an hour or so and have flexable hours and be prepared to kite solo then certainly akl is a kiters paradise. But whilst there is no shortage of kiteable days there is no shortage of rain days either. akls rain is mostly short sharp squally showers that can kick your ass if not careful. As for the cold... i don't find it cold at all.. but i'm a kiwi from Wellington, not a girls blouse from the tropics.

Speaking of Wellington. There is another kickass spot for ya. over 200 days per year where it hits 35 knots and well over 250 days per year where it hits 15. But then again it may be a tad cold in winter... but it's still very windy.

In the north of NZ it kicks ass during winter and is certainly not cold. Water temp still in the high teens and decent wind year round and big beaches etc.

btw is Mackay the best allround spot in OZ for year round winds or is it Noosa? If i ever move over there then i'll need to go... i ain't goin over there for any other reason but for more convienient kiting. After a friend of mine severely injured his foot kiting i'm not too keen on kiting alone anymore which is gonna limit my kiting HEAPS in akl. As the scene is much bigger over there i'm sure that there is allways someone to kite with if i move ot a kite mecca like Perth or Noosa. And lots of kiwis live in Perth Noosa too mwahahahahaha!!!

if you are looking for all year round kiting than w.a is not the place for you its cold all the time and thats only when its not raining .
wind, we had some once 1982 i think it was a saturday 21 st oct a record 15knts all day what a day but apart from that theres no one here to kite with so you will have to learn to windsurf .
if you are from melbourne stick to the east coast i have seen photos and the gold coast looks like the spot to live .
i have heard that wind is good and a 18m will see you blasting across the broad water dodging sea plane , house boats and jet skis
all years kiting is just 2000ks north
