Not really any good flat water spots for our seabreeze, your best bet is Nobby's an 1 or 2 hr either side of low tide for flat-ish water. Other than that, you've pretty much only got a choice of waves.

Also be aware that Nobby's is getting packed out with locals, local rule is if you can count 25 kites in the air, please go else where (Dicko, Redhead, Stockton, Blacksmiths)

If you are after flat water because you are a beginer ignore the rest of this post because it is offshore in a NE seabreeze, and you need to be able to work upwind or it is a big swim. From mid to low tide you can stand up for about 100m out.

About an hour north of Newcastle there is a place called Teagardens / Hawksnest.
Turn in here goto Hawksnest/Jimmys beach (car park or caravan park)walk south till you hit the water turn left walk out towards the end for about 300m rig up and kite 1 meter from the shore in flaaaat water.

The above is for the typical NE breeze we are finally getting.
You can also kite in W,SW or SE but it can be a bit gusty but it is onshore/cross shore in these conditions.

This shot shows where jimmys beach caravan park is, the small pink line on the Port Stephens side of the sand spit is flat water.

Better still you may even kite stockton.
Between the surf club and the breakwall is considered flat (unless there is a big swell).
Park near the breakwall and walk up the beach a bit and launch from here, There are only small waves and you are downwind of the surf club in the typical NE you would expect this time of year.

You can look across the harbour to check out the action on the other side at Nobbys. You will also most likley have company at stockton.
