Gday all,
Ive just started kite boarding but summer is fast running out, with winter on the way I'm curious. when do people stop going out because of the cold weather? or do they keep on going?

Hey KDA
Down south us 'Mexicans' kite all year round. It just takes a little more insulation. Last year for the first time I went and bought wet suit gloves,a radiator type rash vest and some wet suit shorts. Put the vest and shorts under a good 3/4mm winter wetsuit and your set. A lot of people wear helmets in winter for the cold as well.
The upside is you have the whole place to yourself and it beats whatever you'de do instead.

The point was if we can do it you guys should be able to.
Just something to think about. As a new kiter you would stand a higher chance of something going wrong or not being able to relaunch in light winds etc. This may mean your actually in the water longer than the rest of us. Might want to get past that stage before taking on winter head first.
Good luck!

Im also new to the sport and was thinking the same thing... What are the winds generally like in winter? - I fly a 14m Waroo. Invest in a 9 for stronger winds????

cheers,
i dont intend on kiting in the winter or colder times at the moment only if i was confident that i wont be spending as much time in the water but its just something that had crossed my mind, i assumed that this would be the case that more time in the water the colder youd be. but for an average kite boarder do you guys get cold out on the water in the colder months(wet suit and gear taking into account)?
