Hay gang,have the opportunity to stay in Port Douglas for a week or so,can any local kiter there tell me if it is as good as I'm told around 4 mile beach and surrounds...are there many 'bities' in the water around November? can I get to stay within walking distance from the water to carry kite gear?...Roo

Stamp was right about the lack of wind in November. Our season pretty much runs from May to about October. Having said that, last year we were kiting right up through Christmas in some pretty regular South Easters.

The weather patterns have definately changed up here and this season has been CRAPOLA.

The stinger season starts in November. The Box jelly fish head for cover in the South Easterly winds but we are a little unsure about the Irrikanji, they're the little suckers that pack some serious punch. We just wear stinger suits and hope for the best. You could pick up a stinger suit for $40.

Bring your gear you never know your luck. Launch at the southern end of Four Mile. Not sure about accommodation most of the hotels are located at the northern end of Four Mile and thats well.... a four mile walk to the kiting spot. Hire a bicycle the beach is really wide with plenty of hard sand.
