mate we only kite here on north westerlies (every cold front in winter). Ideally dunsborough is good on NW and ESE (bit gusty ESE). If desperate we head east a little (forrest beach) for SW. The good thing about busselton is it is only an hour to augusta, closer to margs. If you want to kite everyday in summer you will have to drive somewhere else. When it is on here it is good (wind) and never crowded.

Well that kinda sucks.

I'm going there in a couple of week and hoping for a kite. Can you kite in the esturary? I image it would like like the Swan River, or is that not the "done thing"?

sitting here in my office in Busselton, when the wind blows its 99% of the time offshore! only a half hour drive to the capes tho, too bad the winds drop off at this time of the year

Bugger! Going with family and another family so I don't think I'll be going off on my own. Nip down to the beach for a quick kite yes but not much more that that.

Actually, apart from the odd great white, can you kite in Dunsborough in an easterly?

Cheers, lets how for something with an E in it which is actually a possibility I would have thought. This weekend in Perth at least it's all easterlies in the morning.

For Busselton and Duns you need something with a northerly (NE) anything with S is offshore. Anything with E in Perth is also offshore. Great surfing conditions down this way this weekend, leave the kite hm!

Hey freddo you can kite dunsborough on ese (best direction summer) which is usually very good with long flat water areas. Ne in duns is straight on shore. You need to get on it early, usually all over by mid day.

Don't know when your coming but bring your gear, it would be frustrating if it happens and your not prepared.

We should be getting our first cold front soon.........

Heading down to Duns for a wedding on Sat. Thinking of taking the kite for Sunday ... What do you reckon?

will take the MTBs in case the wind does not come....

I took a job in Bunbury for the rest of the year. I drove across from Sydney this week. (~4700kms - Absolute mission) I have a few kites, surfboards and a MTB. Keen to do any of the above whenever. Happy to drive wherever. Maybe this should be in the hookups section...

Missed your reply 79.

Drove a bit up north with the MTB to Mt. Lennard - good MTB trails.

I rode up there for the first time on Sunday arvo. Awesome trails. Great no wind option that's pretty close.
