hi,

i have a 6m switchy which i find impossible to kiteloop (fishpole technique) because it is to fast and double loop then hits the water and i fall from 3 meters in the air face first in 1 foot of water. When i loop in a raley how do i do it so the kite doesent double loop (I know how to loop raley with my 10m)

thanks

best way is to not fish pole the bar. have your front hand in the center with the chicken loop thru your fingers and your back hand out towards the edge of the bar. with your hands like this you can control the kite while looping, really important with small kites cause there so fast. try not to do such a little kiteloop ( like when your fishpoleing), edge hard when you release so you get maximum tension therefor big height. once your got good height and power crank the kite thru a bigger loop bringingi it down close to the water. this is how you get those insane shots where your above the kite! harder landings thou, bit if you going to do it DO IT BIG! also having your front hand in the center means once the kite has looped and is fly straight again you can let your back hand off for grabs or rotating to blind.
have fun..

There's a far simpler way of explaining it. It's called kite control. don't pull so hard on one side of the bar.

Start the loop with the kite really really really really low...........

and then with the spare hand raise it to you're forehead, straighten your legs and put on a stern face and you have the Kiteloop General

There is bit more than that...anyone can jump and then loop a kite at 12 at the apex of the jump in effect not generating much extra power.

A real kite loop has to be unhooked and the bigger the loop and the closer you can get the kite to the water the better. Even better if you can get higher than the kite.

This vid is a botched kite loop but would have been super cool had it been landed.

I recon kitelooping is done while travelling at maximum speed and cutting upwind.
Then
1) Position both your grubby hands near the back of the bar.
2) Reef the bar like a boat oar.
3) Hang on.
4) Spot your landing.
5) Keep hanging on for another loop or straighten out the bar.
6) Wave to the crowd like a hero, sort your shorts out and blow your nose.

POP first. If you are doing it for the very first time you are better off taking your kite back to 12 (slowly ) then pop and bring it around by doing it this way you will not go above the kite but will at least get the feel and the idea.

Once you are comfortable send your kite back to begin the loop from a much lower position and pop hard if done correctly you should/can end up above your kite.

BE WARNED : landings can be super fast and or super hard. There is not much worse in kiting than realising 20-30ft. that your kite is not going to make it all the way around ( or goes twice ) and you are going to drop like a stone. my shins and knees will attest to that.

try loopin the kite with one hand on each side of the bar instead off the fishpole approach... because the kite turns so fast it works a treat and gives u more control of the loop as u can always pull back on the other hand if it begins to head into the second loop.... although ur first few loops using this method will be insane!!!! as u tend not to pull hard enough as first...

just look at that clip of moe to see what i mean...
