Im heading there on the 8th of august i put a post on forum a few weaks back looking for the same info got a couple of replies.they said the yaught club at apia was good.im staying at sinalie(not sure on the spelling). My brother has been there twice just surfing but said it looks good for kiting but plenty of trees on shore(luanching could be fun).Might be able to catch up for a kite.
I was there in May surfing and spoke to the bloke (aussie guy) who was taking us out to the reefs. We stayed at Aganoa (Main island) and Mananoa (other island). He reckons he has seen a few guys out kiting, but as previously said, launching will be a bitch as the palm tree go right to the water (both islands). I also have a feeling, that like the swell at Samoa, the wind can be really fickle. If you get it, it will be smoking, if you don't you can see the potential and it will just frustrate you. Don't want to put a downer on the trip but there are better places to go then Samoa for a kitesurfing trip.
SAMOAN KITERS BEWARE!!!!!! HUNTO'S COMING?!!!! AAAAAARRRGGGHH!! This man will get in your way, Steal your waves , Tangle kites, and attempt to seduce your girlfriend! Shoot him on site if seen!!
I was in Apia in august last year for two weeks, It was kitable every day with a 12m. Had a couple of great kite sessions. launched from the yacht club, which was very tricky and tight. How ever the water was shallow so it would have been much smarter just to walk out with the kite and drift launch.
also went to aggie greys resort (near the airport) you can kite there too. they have a small watersports shop with some gear too.
Had a drive along the south side of the island but didnt see any easy launches.
