HI guys,
I will spend the first 2 weeks of dec in melbourne for a conference. I am an experienced kiter and I would like to ask some suggestions, simple and common.
1. I weight 60 kg, which kite size I would need to bring? I generally have 9m and 12m, do I need my 6,5m?
2. beside St Kilde which as I understood is quite flat, are there any wave spots around? I have a car so no problem.
3. what is the water temp in dec? 4/5 wetsuit necessary?
4. other warnings I need to think about?
Thanks so much for all kind of tips and info

Bring your 9 & 12 - perfect combo, that's what I have. I'm 70kg.

St Kilda is over rated, too many kooks and not much room as many schools operate from there. It's great if you can get there first thing and have the place to yourself.

Altona is good, lots of space. Just be sure to launch and land in the correct spots, we had a pretty bad accident there a few weeks ago.

Rosebud in a northerly is great, can get crowded but lots of room once you're out.

Inverloch is a great place on a SW if you're keen for a drive.

I can't comment on the wave spots, you'd always want to ride with someone who knows the spots along the coast.
Just for safety more than anything else.

Enjoy!

lots of waves spot
from ocean grove to point danger there are lots of reef breaks. Pick the spot accordingly of the wind direction.
on the east side also many places.
just drive to the spots and there will be a few kite surfers.
cheers
