has anyone kited here or is going for Xmast-new years break?
I am going with my Gf (kiting novice) and a couple of windsurfer friends and I was wondering if any good info/company is available
I am happy with waves and flat water

Plenty of great spots all around Kingscote, some within walking distance from Ozone Hotel. Check out Google Earth and you will get the picture!
This plot is for the airport (inland), while the winds on the coast are generally stronger.

Also, a couple of contact numbers here, who can put you onto the local kiteboarders.

Hey clockout, a mate (who also kites) and I are going to be staying on a yacht off the north coast of K.I. from late dec thru to around the 9th of jan and we will be trying to get as much kiting in there as possible.
It's a bit restrictive because it's predominately offshore, but we have a boat so I guess we can kite in offshores as long as theres one of us manning the boat.
I've heard vivonna bay is amazing, but its on the north coast so no good for us. It looks sensational on google!

Coast flyer, not sure how well you know K.I. but what about american river (island beach looks good on google) or bay of shoals?
Is bay of shoals a real ****hole? I like the look of it because we can moor the yacht near the spit there and kite on offshores. Do you know if the spit drys out fully and if its sandy, or just sludgy crap?

*Sorry that was Vivonne bay.

Also clockout, will you have a car while you're there?

If so maybe we can do you a trade.. we'll take you out for a day on the yacht one day, and you can drive us to Vivonne bay for a day. Think about it!

Hey guys i ve spent a whole lot of time around the island beach area and probs not the best time of year to kite there cos its pretty much no wind or gusty as off shore because of the afternoon southerly sea breezes blow straight across the island there. i havnt tried american river but watch out for razor fish! it could work in a northerly! But Vivvone bay would be a kick ass spot for some wave action plus some flatter stuff towards the western end!
the islands a great spot to knock around!
have fun!
