Hey Jacques,

Orange is my hometown but I'm fairly new to kiting and haven't taken my gear back there yet (I live in Melbourne now). Lake Canobolas would be a goer I reckon, but it's not real big from memory. Guys used to windsurf and kayak out there, so it might be worth a look. Suma Park is a lot bigger but it's also the town water supply, so I'm not sure how you'd go there.

We water ski at Wyangla dam although that's closer to Cowra than Orange... always used to complain about the wind out there chopping the water up, but maybe I won't complain as much now!

Carcoar dam is another good one and is closer to Orange, but I wouldn't have a clue how much water would be in there at the moment.

Check out Lake Canobolas first I reckon.... let me know how ya go, cause I'll probably be back there in the next few months as well!!

Cheers, Bert.

I wouldnt bother with Canobolas dude, it's way to small and would be a waste of time in my opinion, i used to live up the road. Id stick with the bigger dams, stay away from the Reservoir, if the Council find ya they won't be too impressed, all water activities are banned, you can't even fish there. I used to wakeboard at Windamere, it'd be a great spot if you had a boat to access the more open areas, we tended to stay further up the dam where it was sheltered from the wind.

Carcoar might be ok, but i'd take the drive to Wyangla or Windamere.

Keep in mind though, it's gettin damn cold down there this time of year, and the winds arent the best.

Hey, I live about 2 min up the road from Canobolas and was thinking the same thing. I didnt know anyone else in Orange was interested in Kitesurfing. The next best place is Burrundong, near Wellington.

As actually being able to kite on Lake Canobolas you'd have to speak to the local ranger, Lives on the east side of the wall.
