Try using a pair of plyers with a flat section to squeeze and soften the knot from different angles, watering it helps as well. Then try picking it slowly from different sections with a pick. After stabbing yourself a few times it usually ends up working
A knot left if your line creates a weak spot an can potentially break although not as bad on the steering line I suppose ( a lot less tension than the front lines).
Use a hammer on a hard flat surface tap the knot turn it on its Side tap again repeat this process for a while the knot becomes really soft and then you can get it with you nails .
