at mid 90kg i am worried that a 16m m80 will be two powerful in the 18 to 20 knot range. I am pretty sure that the 14 spectrum2 has me a little underpowered but the WLF(still love it) is compensating. I do not want to have to come in to change kites all the time when those wonderful NE winds arrive. I know someone at around 85kg bought the 15m co2 and had troubles with it being a little to powerful!!

depends on the depower richo, but I had my 16m caution out up to 18 knots, and pretty overpowered at 20 on some occasions. I would then go to my 12. the 16 died, and i replaced it with an 18 bfk - so I have 12+18, and im not expecting any gap as the 18 has good top end, and I have 2 boards. im now 87kg, but was 95 when i started if thats any help.

Reckon the 16 m80 will to be much of a handful at 20kts.
It has way more power than the 04 and 05 16 cautions.

What are you into - all styles? What are you looking for in a kite?

yea good question
not into wake board style jumps and flips (to hard)
will start riding surf soon (i have a lot of years on the short board under my belt)
love riding flat water and can boost pretty well so it will be just the sort of tricks you do with high jumps. Not loaded low height high speed jumps.
You got anything that would fit. I hear the m80 will be for wake style so i am off the idea.

Really need more power at 13 to 16 than the 14m gives me. Am happy to change down a size at 20knots but would hate for that to be essential. You know you get an 18knot day that gust to 22, 23knots, my all rounder needs to be able to do that depowered. What do you think. I know the spectrum 15 can do that. Man what a great kite that was for me. It kept me going at sub 15knots but i could ride it in higher winds. I had one and loved it. But i wonder at the life span of the spectrum 1?? Bit cautious about another one!! pretty keen on something new.

yea professor am leaning that way. I have seen a rhino 04 16 go well in lighter stuff. I am not to sure what all the hoohaa is about with rhino 04 cause paulio's seems to go real well. Yea the more i think about a nice new 16 rhino 5 sounds like the go. And no Paul there will be no breaking in period for you. (sorry)

Yes indeed the spectrum 15 was a very special kite!

I have tried the R5 14 and didn't think much of it myself.
It was just 'ok' but lacked the bottom end. I've heard the 16 is better but haven't tried it. But why would you want to be on a big kite in higher winds (eg 16 in 25kts)? I'd rather be on a 10 or 12 and jumping to the moon!
If moneys no object then maybe the rhino is the go. Maybe even a Raven?
Myself, I have recently been riding the 16 and 21 bfk a lot and am amazed at the lift/hang and range of these kites. Very similar to the 04 LF 15m 'feel'.
I am down the goldie tomorrow and wouldn't mind a session down there from around lunchish onwards, so if you want a ride on them give me a buzz 0418 281 660.
