open up the traling edge of the strut... Tie one of your kite lines to the valve... pull the bladder out through the trailing edge opening...

Fix leak !, just like you would a bike tyre. Pump it up, and place in a bath tub (if you have one handy)... Fix leak and cover in talken powder and replace in blader in reverse of way you took out !

I've done it a coupla times pretty easy.

1. Tie kite line to the valve on the bladder, nice and tight, you don't want it coming off.
2. Open the thin end of the bladder sheath (on the trailing edge of your kite) and slowly edge you bladder down and out.
3. The line attached to your valve, needs to come out the bottom of the sheath, so you can pull your bladder back into the right possy.
4. Patch the hole.
5. Make sure you keep the exposed bladder as free of sand grit etc as possible at all times.
6. Lay the repaired bladder out on the ground so it is sitting as it will be when it's back in the sheath.
7. You might need help here, but you basically need to reattach the kite line to the bladder valve, and gently pull the line from the leading edge end of the sheath, gently feeding the bladder in from the trailing edge end.
8. Should all slide in smoothly, and then you just refasten the tabs on the end of the sheath and you're good to go.

Hope it works.

you can use a broom-handle as a big needle, to thread the line inside the strut, if you drop the line or don't use it to begin with.

Hi galvanize,

I have had to fix leaks on 9 valves where they have been leaking where they attach to the bladder (SS Fuel 2004 1 pumps - these had a kown issue with the black valves coming off the bladder).

Fill the gaps with glue (ensuring it doesn't get inside the bladder, then patch as well. Has worked for me.

McNett manufacture a product called "Tenatious". It's a tape that sticks like the proverbial to a blanket. You should be able to get it at camping stores like Ray's Tent City.

It sticks like nothing else I've seen, so get the possitioning right the first time!

Good stuff; my kite wouldn't fly without it.

(Can I have some ca$h for this advert now?)
