Well if its not on, the Sunny Coast could hold it. I already have some ideas Lennox was cool but I am sure with all the interest on the coast we could put somthing together, considering it was all fun. I think a freestylers & waveriding alternating styles. Judging on wave & judging on freestyle.g

reply and show how much interest is out there in holding a wave riding wake style comp 'all-in-one' maybe even kite skills included in judging.

You'll need about 15 grand and lots of volunteers willing to donate many hours of work.

Probably why no-one put their hand up this year.

Sounds good! It would be nice if you could just have a comp. Pity about all the crap attached to organise one.

I think the future of comps will be small, informal local events organised under the usual radars. Once you involve councils, water authorities, insurance, sponsors, food, judges, entertainment and competitors you are taking on a huge task that takes weeks or months to organise.

Last year's Lennox comp was soooo good. The organisers worked so hard to make it a success. I reckon they got burnt out from all the work involved.

have to aggree with Dave -
if you just had to deal with competitors it would be pretty straight but all the council red tape is a nightmare

Plus the amount of work doesnt equate to fun for the oraganisers - it is just work and stress - that you dont get paid for and that gets pretty old after you have done it once or twice.

I would much rather just go kiting. _ I am sure thats what the Lennox crew have decided after their events which were great.

It is a shame because it great to attand the events but no fun to host one.

Hi Guys, The truth is: Ash who ran Lennox last year is pretty snowed under and decided not to hold the comp this year,SEQKA offered to hold it down there with the help of NSWKBA. But it was decided that the comp at Lennox would not go ahead.

So, we contacted the powers that be on the Gold Coast in August, to ask if we could push through the red tape quick enough to be able to hold the comp maybe at Nobbys on the Goldie. The result was that 'the powers that be' said that more time was needed for approval.

Now, I have contacted Mike Walker and asked if we were to hold the comp maybe mid Feb would it be too close to 'Port', Mike stated "that would be great".

In conclusion (IF) the Sunny Coast wishes to hold the comp there, this is the time to email me through SEQKA or P.M me here. There are several spots that we could could hold it down here ranging from Nobbys to Kingscliffe.

Either way on the T.V stand here is the 'Wave Trophy' that Paul J has, if you deserve it just send multiple $$ notes to me and 'YOU' will be the titile holder. JOKE

Get back to me guys

Paul

Fun? Maybe for the competitors and spectators. Volunteers are like diamonds, rare and precious. Meet me for a beer or six and I'll give you an idea of what you are in for.

I have been involved with the Port 'Nationals' for the last two years and have to report that the event will not be on in February 09. Perhaps November, if at all.
With my work commitments and buyng a house just up the Rd at Middle Rock, my free time is limited.
Have enjoyed working on these events and will hopefully be organising something here again in the not to distant future.
If anyone is interested in a Free Ride style weekend get together, something could be organised if there is any interest.
Would love to see some other kiters get motivated and organise more events.

Regards
Richard Taaffe
