yo plumms maybe rethink the rocker, the shinn w18 has heaps and its lightwind ability was superb, also a real flat board has to be ridden with a fair bit of back foot pressure in beach conditions, as itll bury the nose especially on the way out, i really liked the shinn speedball but if i could add anything itd be a bit more nose and tail length, think outside the box and let your imagination run havoc

Eppo put me on to the Crazyfly cruiser pro 145x44 as a light wind board with the zephyr, dimensions are a good fit to what you have available to use.

I'd try and build something like a north skimfish. I think your bamboo is too narrow though.

yeah I know I should go extra width but this board is a budget build. IE zero additional cost. I'm building it out of left overs. So the size is the size.
I thought about skim shape. But for starters i'll run a traditional rectangle shape and then reshape it to skim shape if I hate the ride.

This board will be used in 10-14 knots. Typically small swell and chop in those winds. But occasional head high +days. I have no flat water apart from in between the waves.

The Tomo Vanguard shape is getting some good reports as a modern planing hull. He is holding a shape here which might have the possibility of working as a twintip if the ends were matched.

I was thinking there might be a possibility of creating channels by splitting the board, but there is the difficulty of making it the right strength/stiffness afterward.

Hey plummet a lot of surf specific TT's have lots of concave and apparently perform "beyond" their dimensions. ie the mako and the speedball. (I will know more about the Speedball l8r this week ;) thanks nige
I reckon a fairly square outline will give you more area and would negate the need for a 3stage rocker. You can round it off at the tips or even pull a north "phantom" on it and shorten the toeside rail if you really want to put some carve back. Those boards were pretty fun for big TT's
I haven't made any TT's but I make surfboards and I know that if you use concave you can increase your edge rocker and the board will still be as fast as the same size flatter board with no concave. I actually think they may be faster (ie quicker to the plane) as the water has a channel to take where as with the flat surface they sometimes feel as though they are pushing water. Also the longer flatter edges of 3stage rocker are harder to anchor at the 14kt end. Some have even said the concaves make the SBs Hydrofoil but that's a bit far out for even me to accept. The concaves definitely paddle in to waves easier IMO. For what it's worth I hope this is of some value m8.

Means I could crank upwind on the way out and then on the way back in throw in a some toeside carves on the wave face with a little better wave performance.
