Hey guys I'm just new to this forum and have been reading some interesting posts. In fact i've cracked up over some of them re: boardies over wetties etc!

I was just wondering has anyone actually made any long trips kitesurfing? I've heard some people have crossed the English channel. Have any locals thought of doing a Scarborough to Bribie or other long trip just to say that you have done it?

Is a Scarborough to Tanga possible? I would be keen to organise an attempt. I'd probably bring a boat to trail and spot just in case. It'd be pretty cool to do a long trip to say you did it or tried. It'd probably be the first time anyone has done it and it'd probably make the press. At least if you didn't make it they'd be a boat nearby with cold beers.

in the 80's myself and a group of various friends windsurfed from the train at the broadwater to wellington point 3 times, our longest time was seven hours, our shortest was under 5.
a bloke called wolfgang circumnavigated south stradbroke island 'solo' from dawn to dusk.wot a crazy kraut.i seem to remember he celebrated with a big joint.
and steve mc geary and his mate whose name i cant remember windsurfed from wellington point to moreton island and then to margate on a good southerlyin the same day with no support boat!
all of these feats shold be kiteworthy, just get agroup of friends together.

Definately sounds like a plan. Might let it circulate around a little bit and get a whole crew to plan a long trip. It is certainly something a little bit different, it'd be good to give the sailboarders a bit of a run! Maybe time routes to see if current records can be broken.

Ive Windsurfed at Tanga and its sooooooooo awesome... Cant wait to get over there again to kite!!!

Didnt someone mention a Brighton down to Queens run a month ago or so? That sounds easier :-P

If We can get there without THE JELLIES trying to kill us as soon as ya little toe touches the water...

I'd actually like to do Bribie from the southern tip
down the full length into Caloundra Passage mouth.
Later this week looks like it would work well.
That would be a fun run as the swell would pick up more and more as you headed north, still close to shore if you needed
to get in for a mechanical.
A couple of us have mused the tangalooma trip, but I've done alot
of fishing in these parts, count me out of that one.
I'll drive the boat.

I'm still coming for that kite with you that we talked about next time I'm at the Gold Coast. Unfortunately that's a long way away right now.

So who's keen for Durban to Perth? I think the wind would work: Out of here on a NE, circle sround three or four low pressure systems on the way across the Indian, then come in from the South on the Fremantle Doctor. I've got an old LF 185 switch I could sleep on at night. It's in Australia though so you might have to fly it over with you when you come Paul.

im up for that,

although can we stop off at Madagaskar for a break.

we wont need a support boat, just eat raw fish we catch with the lures that are dangling off the back of the boards

Im staying on the Katavu islands in Fiji next week, 100km NNE from there to the coral coast, a perfect reach on a SE trade wind. Might be safer than the local charter flight .

ill probably find some nice reef breaks to have fun on, during the journey too

Bring on the Indian Ocean downwinder.
After Madagascar, we stopover at Reunion, Mauritius, ummm... then shimmy down to the howling 50's for some more speed.

To really make a day of it we keep going SE to Heard Island and practise using icebergs for sliders.

If we don't hit Rotto by dusk, I reckon a kite'll make a mighty fine airmattress.

Paulio lets dwind it from jumpinpin to narrowneck . we'll drop a car off at narrowneck then drive to sheer put the boat in and drive to the pin, have some 'random girly' drive the boat back and park it at sheer. When we get to narroneck we can then drive back to sheer where the 'random girly' will be waiting with beer and massages. keen?

No Worries Psylor

I will come and help out the random girly in the car and the boat for you. Why ? Cause that's the kind of guy I am !!!!

Has Psylor Senior got his new Rap 12 yet ? I checked out his new boat at Sanctuary Cove when I was up there replacing a battery in mine the other day. Perfect Kite Carting Rig for sure.
