today we went off on a journey, from main beach to caloundra
started at 11:50trip started off really good, powered, i was on my 8 meter core, scott was on a 10m core, moti was on a 12m core, and luke was on a 9m cab... got half way up south straddie, and the wind turned abit crappy, really light, went in about half way up south straddie... waited for about 10-15 mins and decided to go on, still was light, but soon after picked up to about 25 knots...stayed up, and was really gusty.. went upto jumping pin and waited for scotty, then kept going up.. went up to north straddie, about 1km from the point.. had a rest then started going again.. scotty was going to go in at north straddy, so the 3 of us started going.this was at about 2:30 or so.. moti took off, and was well infront of luke and i, when my foot strap snapped. ****. thought id go in with scotty, instead of making the next 100km with one strap.. started going in where i saw the biggest shark of my life, feeding on the fish.. my luck was ****, wind dropped as i was about 5m away from it. i think i was running across the water.. gladly it kicked up again, and i went to shore.. was looking at luke trying to tack out, but didnt have much luck and had to come in. as we were landing on the beach, moti took off, continued going.. we thought he might of gone around the point and landed somewhere, but when we rang him about an hour later, he was gone and up moreton island, he was about 20km up, and the wind had died. the lifeguards said if we had any trouble to let them know, and they would go and pick him up.. we let it go for about 45 mins, and called him again, he answered, he was riding, and at the tip of moreton in the open seas, he said he was riding between the swell, and couldn't see land... spoke to him another hour later, and he was just able to see land from where he was... i rang him about 6, and he was floating around briby island somewhere.. he made it and got picked up. fair effort, the 3 of us went 100km, and moti ended up doing around 200kms.. good day! well done moti for making the full way.

has any one else tryed kiting from goldy to sunny coast?

Personally I prefer to drive to the Sunny Coast for a kite.

You need to get off those Core's and buy a real kite so you can go upwind! I remember when you had Cab's and they used to break all the time...but at least then you went upwind.

Bloody Euro!

Wow.. 200k is no mean feat. What a trip..

But I am with some of the comments here .. something goes wrong and you're shark bait. Specially if you take off on your own..

Glad you guys all made it and good on'ya Moti for the 200k stretch. Next time call me and I will join, with a little more preparation.

Wait for the red thumbs... eheheh

Great idea / concept ,really stupid execution ,no safety boat ,what were you thinking, you guys obviously haven't herd about all the sharks rounding up the bait fish all the way along Stradie and Moreton surf beaches?? as mentioned above the stretch of open water between Cape Moreton and Caloundra is suicide if you have gear malfunction .

Bring on a support boat and I'm in .
