I believe that there were 2 other breakins earlier in the day as well, before 4.30 in the arvo, a red Discovery and white Subaru got done over. In one case they only took cash, but left everything else.

Looks like we gotta keep a lookout for these punks man!

My 2 cents of what we can do

1)Maybe start approaching suspicious characters in the vicinity, ask them what they're doing.

2)Don't bring valueables in the car ( you dont need em while driving to the beach to kite anyway)

3)Leave the glove box open to show that there's nothing but a bunch of entangled dynema lines

4) bring all your money with you ( they're waterproof anyway)

5)See a witch and place a curse on whichever punk who trys to break into you car (leave a note on the windscreen to let em know)

6) make your car look real dirty and worthless

7) pay a punk $5/hr to look after the car.... should cost you 10 bucks or so in total.... he could help pump the kite and be ready to catch and launch the kite too!

8) A cheaper option than to pay the punk $5....just find yourself a really really nice gf/bf who does the same for free..

The Choice van got done over as well yesterday arvo at woodies. There was nothing in it, and they even left the change in the console.
The breakins seem to be happening before 4.30 in the arvo, less people around I spose. Anyone live in the area that can ask the council to put a camera down there? Even if it's not connected, they reckon a camera is one of the best deterrents around.
BTW, Tuesday we found what appeared to be a crack pipe down there, also there is a huge amount of empty stubbies and cans lying about. We have done one cleanup already this season, that was only a month ago. My other fear is syringes. I have not seen any yet, but with all that other sh!t going on down there, keep your eyes open!

I have an idea, A few of us could wait in the back of my panel van with cricket bats, when these scum try it on, SUPRISE we can get out and beat the living **** out of them!!

Then they should tie them up naked to the a light poll on the drag with the word "thief" tattoo'd on their forehead. Then we can film it and post it on the web......it may discourage others.

I think they would soon get the message.

Just an idea.

Quality idea Dale, if we leave a couple of mobile phones and a wallet on the front seat, we wont have to wait very long for a punk to show up.

The main reason I havent sold my beaten up corona station wagon is how perfect it is for kitesurfing. No-one bothers looking twice at it and if I ever leave a bag in there, I make sure it is completely open for all to see that there is nothing inside. Make it obvious there is no valuable in your car and it wont get broken into.

At the main kitesurfing spots on a windy day if everyone pools in a dollar I'm sure we could pay some kid a nominal fee to stand around with a baseball bat to watch our cars. There are plenty of 14 year olds who would love to stand around doing nothing and get paid for it.

The fake security cameras are also a very good idea, people are tough as until they think you can find out who they are.

I reckon we pay someone to sit with a camera and get photos of the dogs in the act and more importantly their car number plates and send the pics to the cops

We could get one of those detective dudes Leighton one very hot spot regularly hit would be so easy just sit above the railway lines on strling hwy and snap away.

this sort of thing could get news coverage and gain momentum and maybe deter some of the brazen breakins during broad daylight - on a major hwy for F#@$% sake

I'll donate $20

I think a beating would be lots of fun but would probably get us in more trouble than the dogs themselves

Has anyone been reporting these break-ins to the police... I'm sure if they found out about the regularity and frequency for one they would Fkn be touring down there more regularly....and yeah.. i think a better idea when we catch them.... is to smash every single window in their car , screwdriver every keyhole, and fill their fuel tank with salt water... that'll teachem.. hopefully their car ain'
t stolen caus it wont be going anywhere after that

what would probably be even more effective if ppl are willing and council lets us is to bash out a couple of those rocks... and make a dirt/sand track thats "driveable" to the kite launch area, that way every person can see their own cars all the time.. I'd prefer that over any other solution

We have the same problems up north.....ive reported 3 or 4 times already and the attitude is yeah we know. Be careful parking at Pinnaroo you have a good chance of being broken into and being flashed by old men.

I ride my bike to the beach now and even had a little punk try and steal my kite bag off the beach right in front of me. I scared the crap out of him though when I came hooning into the beach so fast screaming and swearing at him! He ran so fast![}:)]

HAHA great thread!

little @#$%^&*%$#%^@@*&^ers!! although it'd prolly get me in serious trouble, if i found someone doing that to anyone's car i'd be lying if i said that i wouldn't be giving them a good hard shove into the oncoming traffic!

if everyone actually puts some ideas (that are more appropriate than mine) down and perhaps some dates / times of when this stuff happens, then maybe waksa can approach some of the councils or police about having a bit more of a look at it. at least go to them with some ammo so to speak...

something needs to be done, and the odds are stacked against it being done by anyone but us.... so paying people to watch, get photos, and approaching the councils/police via waksa would be good places to start.

If a large pole was erected with a dark tinted perspex sphere ontop, for the cost of maybe 4 or 5 car windows (if that), it would reduce breakins by at least 75%. Then there's ye old booby trap your car with C4, it will remove one more @#$% from this planet and insurance will pay you out cause they will assume it was a car bomb aimed at you (not set by you). You could even take this one step further and fake your death this way!! Take out a huge life insurance policy before hand and after you see the explosion from the ocean, kitesurf out to an awaiting yacht and sail to a remote tropical island!!! Hopefully your wife will meet you there later instead of keeping all the payout to herself. Remember to set enough C4 as to render the victims body null and void, not a bit of it left, you dont want nasty DNA evidence foiling your plan.

maybe even a wooden sign that says thieves will be BASHED would deter them :)

Kiting at Woodies yesterday Thus 2/12, Gav saw a white Commodore with body kit and 3 suss young dudes cruise by up to the top car park. An alarm went off and they left in a hurry. Gav got Rego number and gave it to a very pissed off dude Who had a smashed back window in his new Jeep Cherokie.
It has become a daily accurance and the time was about 4.30

Do any of the cars that have been broken into have car alarms? People should report these break ins immidiately.

Also, I didn't know you guys smoke crack in Australia.

We should set up an ambush, with Pictures, and Video of course, not Bats, and broomsticks. It wouldn't be that hard, its obvious their brains are the sizes of peas.

More breakins at leighton yesterday!

The arseholes did a real destructive job of going through my mate's car.

DONT BRING ANYTHING VALUABLE KITESURFING EXCEPT YOUR GEAR.

I'm seriously considering getting a heavy duty lockable box welded up which I could bolt to the floor of my station wagon.

forget the standard car alarms. for such a situation you need a more suitable solution.
first install two 120 decibel klaxon alarms in your car, one under each front seat. have them wired up to a small timer triggered to a limit switch on each door. ensure a hidden switch is installed so that when you open the door it doesn't go off. set the timer up for about 2 to 3 seconds. this will ensure that when the low down, scum of the earth decide to break into your car, they should just make it about half way into the car when the alarms go off. with such a high decibel rating in such a confined space should cause the f$^%&*!ts eardrums to meet in the middle of his head.

if you decide to be really cruel, bait could be employed. to set the ultimate in instant justice methods up all you would need is 1. bait-something shiny, 2. one big capacitor 3. an electrical insulation tester-any good sparky will have one of these and a spool of wire. with this set up it can be designed so that as the scum of the earth enter the car to retrieve the bait, not only do their eardrums meet in the middle of their head but they also get thrown out of the car with the electric shock they recieved. with the attention of 2 120 decibel alarms going off it should be just enough time for everyone thinking about breaking into a car to look up and realise that it may not be such a good idea after all

I read this forum but never put anything on it - so, just a little information about the break ins.....I had this problem in my ****ty old truck, it was broken into by local punks even after I left it empty and unlocked they still climbed around in it and slashed the seats cos there was nothing to nick off with. Anyway, I developed a small device hooked up to the glove box which administered an electric shock (nothing too serious, just a bit of a bolt)to anyone opening the box. This worked brilliantly and the punks left my truck alone. Better still I never fried myself (which is always the expected outcome with such cunning plans). BUT, one of their parents complained and the police told me off. Things like an electric glovebox are covered under a man traps act - as dumb as it sounds. And, if I hadn't been able to convince the cop that electric shocks were a common side effect of owning my truck due to its dubious wiring, then I might have been in trouble.

Be careful about how you solve this problem, nothing would be more gutting than getting in trouble for doling out some well deserved justice....

The mannequins are an excellent idea, if you dress em up to look like there is a person sleeping in the front seat they wont bother!

We did something similar at an old place we had in fremantle. My old man's girlfriend had bought an old mannequin which we dressed up in some lingerie and placed its hand seductively down the front of its panties then placed it standing the front window slightly behind the curtain but easily visible from even the opposite side of the road. We got a lot of entertaining reactions from people strolling past!

Stnkygoat thats bloody classic!!! A worried mother comes fronting up to the police station complaining that her son has been getting electrocuted every time he tries to smash into your truck!!! Surely the police must hate having to charge dudes for stuff like that.

After our session today we passed two cars in succession that fitted the descriptions of suspicious vehicles given on previous posts on this forum:
-white commodore (early 90s, lowered, mags)
-dark blue station wagon (70s? 80s? a bit beaten up)
Just as we were leaving jervous bay rd we passed the commodore and decided to chek it out so we turned around. Just as we did the blue car pulled in and was right behind. The rego of the blue car was taken but they must have seen us looking because they stopped half way. We continued to the western most car park and parked at the end just watching the white commodore. The blue car pulled beside it...started talking etc. 4 meat heads got out and were standing around but werent doing much. 5 people in total with a girl also. They were probaly in the early to mid twenties. We decided to leave because they were looking at us but we got the rego of the white commodore on the way out. This was all at about 6.15.
This may be just paranoia but I just thought people should be aware of these guys. Im not going to give the regos to the cops unless anyone has seen these cars there before so if anyone has please reply.
