more people have climbed everest.............than swam the english chanel

Hi All

A good friend of mine (and fellow kiter) is swimming the English channel in August to raise funds for the National Stroke Foundation. He's not too great at self promotion and is so busy swimming that he doesn't really have the time. It's personally costing him 18 thousand to fly, compete, get a support boat etc.

He is currently swimming about 70km per week. At the same time he has to pack on the kilos as they are not allowed to wear a wetsuit to protect from the cold or jellies.

It's easy to donate by bank transfer or credit card. Every bit helps. His goal is 100,000 for the foundation. If you know someone who's been affected by a stroke or is at risk then this is a great cause for you.

Account Name: stroke4stroke

BSB: 066 125

Account Number: 1034 7407

Thanks for your generosity

Is he really a 'fellow kiter'???

What I do know is that he's an excellent surfer, all around water man, Tassie Devil, damn funny bugger and loves eating pies.

He's well worth our support.

Go Scanners!!!

...but how's he managing to put on weight and do the exercise? Sounds like a lot of pies are in order

Not yet, not yet, but we will, I have his details.

He still owes me $200 for dealing with that 'orrible van of his, should never have borrowed it. My ol Dad once told me - 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be'.

i was driving to work along mounts bay road last week, freezing my arse off in the car with heater on, and there he was swimming past the brewery in speedos (he may have ducked in for a stubbie and a pie who knows), with support on a surfski following probably also freezing his arse off. thats dedication. Good luck Scanners!
