Can get some good westerly days over there. Tangalooma can get a bit busy with boats. Around Cowan and Bulwer is nice, but there are quite a few sharks in those waters (eg ).

Just thought i'd let you know that Moreton is infested with those finned creatures.

Im not sure if you'd get great wind on Westerlies particularly South Westerlies because...

a) South Westerly wind is always CRAP cold and really gusty. It changes direction on and off.

b) There is alot of elevation right on the west coast of the beaches so I tend to think that most wind will blow over the beach and you wouldn't be left with much wind.

c) Those channels on the West coast have a strong current and you may struggle to get upwind.

It would have to be a big bloody shark to eat you Matt

This time of the year the bait fish start to come up the coast and that attracts the sharks...

Got a good spot for S/Westers down the road from my place, Matt....

Some samples of what you maybe up against kiting at Moreton Island

www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?categoryid=4

I've had some great kite sessions kiting at Moreton Island. Dont get me wrong there's some great spots when its NE/NW you'd go to the Southern and North Tips. But if it blowing NE and NW why bother going to Moreton Island when there are great spots elsewhere.
