Im not sure if you'd get great wind on Westerlies particularly South Westerlies because...
a) South Westerly wind is always CRAP cold and really gusty. It changes direction on and off.
b) There is alot of elevation right on the west coast of the beaches so I tend to think that most wind will blow over the beach and you wouldn't be left with much wind.
c) Those channels on the West coast have a strong current and you may struggle to get upwind.

I've had some great kite sessions kiting at Moreton Island. Dont get me wrong there's some great spots when its??? (NE/NW) you'd go to the Southern and North Tips. But if it blowing???? (NE and NW )why bother going to Moreton Island when there are great spots elsewhere.
