just purchased a naish cult, could anybody tell me, after you inflate the kite, and you pull the valve out, should something stop the air bursting out? Or do you just have to hold it?

Yep - the big finger should do it !

I have an 08 naish Code which uses an individual strut ball in valve system (no frills or graphics same kite) yours will be a standard one pump....
