Seems like you have sailing/skippering experience. Hire a 41 elite from airlie beach (about $110 PPPP for 10 people). Its a nice catamaran, easy to sail and comfortable. You will generally wanna sail during the night to new locations to maximise your fun time so a few experienced yachties would be advantage.

I used to sail charters yachts and a few times we took charters out of windsurfers to outer reef, the amount of gear they had (boards) were and issue.

Most of the big charter companies are based in airlie and have best selection of yachts there. But due to it being the off season, depending how many days hire you are intending they will do pickups/dropoffs from anywhere between airlie and brisbane

Either a boat from airlie will come down, or one from brisvegas will come up.
