You're kidding right? Sometimes you just have to start at the bottom and work your way up.

I still buy second hand cars because I cant afford to upgrade to a new car, the late model second hand ones go great and at a fraction of the cost.

Lots of perfectly good kites are about to go up for sale for no good reason beside wanting to have the latest gear at the local beach.

Good luck,

Sounds like your still growing, I've got a 16 mtr Torch for sale and its going cheap.
Buy it and it will last you into your late 50s at least, this way as you get fatter and older you will already have the rite set up.

There is plenty of work out there to earn $1000 (a goal for you) and probably a line of employers waiting....just for you to apply....

There is also another line of people waiting just for you if you choose the "steal an cheat" option ........many would comprise of angry kiting persons with bats and impliments of knee destruction who have had their gear stolen or have been cheated on a deal after earning their own cash for their kit, also in the line would be the local constabulary, court clerks, magistrates..........oh and a $1000 would not go far for a Lawyer

Year 11 ...so far so good.....lots of education..... but one of the best lessons you will ever learn will be if you follow the first part of Blownaway's advice and earn your own kit. Find out how to fund it now before kids, marriage, mortgage, women, pubs.......so many $$ soaks to name

You only need to work for 2 hours a night for 5 days in the week for $10 and hour and in 2 1/2 months you could have a $1000 kite which would be a great 2008 model.

This would put you right at the beginning of the season and lots of second hand gear to choose from.

The way I look at it, is you only really have 2 options.

Option 1 is buy this:

Option 2 is marry a rich chic, never have to work again, kite every day and die very happy but with no dignity.[}:)]

or marry a sick old lady that owns some valuable real estate and accidentally pushed her down the stairs, sell the house and buy 1 of every new kite on the market.

I still buy bits of hose, radiator sealant, various springs and stuff for my second hand car, because I'm too cheap to buy a new second hand car.

i am also in year 11 AND i have a job which is the only reason i can kiteboard. you cnt expect momy money to pay for everything. i started working so i could kite and in a few months of working hard i had around $1000 for me to buy a ok setup.
there are a ton of old peterlynn kites for around $300 at local shops, 13m,15m 04 models that will do awesome for summer. a kite under $500 might still be ok but will be a bit less durable.

If you can fly a good old C kite like the co2, then there is plenty of really cheap 2nd hand C kites on the market going heaps cheap. you wont be able to get anything decent till you get a job. Take a loan off your rents and get a brand new NEW O.S at that winter warmer deal. should last you till you finnish school. Im a UNI student and its well known that we are some of the poorest people around (3rd world etc excluded).

Just curious, is there any particular reason it's hard? Some sort of extenuating circumstance that we don't know about? When I was a teenager and wanted paid work I had to either find it on the farms near where we lived or ride my bicycle 15km to town if my parents didn't want to drop me off and pick me up. That made it kinda hard.

Getting a job isn't that hard. Just go to your local shops and just ask the owner if they need a worker.
They aren't going to come looking for you. The worst thing they can say is "no we don't need anyone", then you move to the next shop.
But, don't look scabby, and speak properly as well.
I worked all through yr 11 and 12, even during exams. If its time your worried about, just manage it better.
Nothing beats buying stuff with money you worked hard for. And as someone else said, you'd be surprised how quick you could rack up 1000 dollars. Could get a good kite for that.
