Hey,
Bring all your kites. Port Sorell is great for flat water and bakers beach can get a good wave too.
NW seabreeze will often be present at that time of year, watch for a high centered off SA or King Island way and clear blue skies. It'll never be reported in the weather forecasts.
Lots of gusty wind down here for you and if you really need a kite just drive 1.5 hr west to Stanley, it'll handle any wind angle or conditions.

air temp can range from low teens to mid twenties occasionally, water is colder than feb and March and I think is around 12-14. If you are weak and have not consumed ample pies then a wetty will be a must!

Sw'sters are always cold, NW are nice and Easterlies are the warmest. If you don't move from port sorell then a 13m and 9 will do you.

On the north coast the basic rule is if its Easterly then the further you head West the stronger the wind will be and visa versa. It can be 12kn in Devonport and 100km West it'll be 20-30kn awesomeness.

Are you into wave riding? What do you seek? and how much time can you spare as it doesn't always line up on the weekends.

wylee you just got some of the best advice on wind in northern tassie going around - kitedevil hits it hard up there usually with miles of coastline and no one else out.

With limited time it prob wont be worth missioning to hobart, but anywhere on the east coast should get decent seabreezes on a nice day. As he said, most of us get away with a 12/13 and 8/9m combo unless you wanna hit the nuking westerlies then your gonna need something under a 7

i make my own boards so can make a board to suit what ever conditions to match the kite i take .. but sounds like the range of boards i have at the mo i can find one in there to bring ...

Send a msg when you get here.

Here's a little vid of Bakers Beach on a light day. It's about a 4min kite from your shack a Port Sorrell across the lagoon.

You should definitely get a few days kiting in at that time of year, If you're kiting at port sorell just be aware of the public coz they have no concept of what a kite is capable of and won't hesitate to get in your way. I think we're still something of a novelty down here. Kiting is best at port sorell a couple of hours either side of high tide, when it's just right theres a big area that's generally knee/waist deep. You have to go to Stanley if you've got the time.

those kites should do you well. One bloke here used to ride a 10m in all winds and did alright.
Coming from Cairns you may want to drop into a surf shop on the way down and grab a wettie, its all of about 12-16deg water here. The video that Samio posted was done in summer
