Just found these new deck pads and straps from NSI kiteboarding that have the screw inserts in the pad, no need to chop into the surfboard to fit plugs for the straps. check out http://www.nsikiteboarding.com/

they look great, pitty about the price, with pads they will be up around $200.

they work well. When puuting them on. you need to make sure that the surface is clean and free of wax etc. You can still use your board as a surfboard by just removing the straps.
