thats funny. no one has nominated anyone for the kite (dis)asociation. dont you remember the first meeting when everyone said they didnt want any industry people on the board? I dont think that this is the place to put down your industry competitors-leave commercial posts out of this forum. I know for a fact that the boys are doing all they can for the currumbin kiters by lobbying the correct people(the dept of transport & the water police)-the Vmr are only another lobby group like our own -they have no power to do anything.I understand that everyone is upset by this but lets keep it friendly please.

All it takes is just one hot local who thinks he's gods gift or a blow in beginner who doesn't give a rats. I really see it as doom and gloom in the comming years in regards to access rights. I believe it will have to come down to licensing and registration with instruction courses that are more refined than what we have today. The stuff you see beginners doing these days just makes you think it's only a matter of time when a bystander gets hurt real bad.
We really must look at the long term good of the sport rather than just hot spot problems. But I guess you have to start somewhere.

If you want my opinion, a few people should pull their heads in. Going around big noting themselves will probably do more harm than good.Currumbin kiters should lay low and shut the **** up - keep out of the alley and behave themselves for a while. No sliders,no kickers,no lessons to beginers, no losing their kites into the carpark or families playing on the beach-i have seen all this happen too many times. The alley is an accident waiting to happen - there has been no respect for other beach goers by the locals. The fact of the matter is that no one has ever been hurt in the alley so far, so authorities would have a hard time banning it especially if kiters are seen to be behaving responsibly. just my 2 cents worth

Kiterdude's right.

Kitesurfing isn't banned at the Alley yet.
So just play it cool for a little while.
Be good kiters and all will be forgiven.
The kook incident will be forgotten. (Except by the victim)
The more meetings, the more attention(negative) you attract.

Can i just say well done on this and congrats on the nice work at mambo. I will be there wed. If there is anything you need let me know. If we can show we can self regulate it will count in our favour. Bit hard to do that though.. not really practical. I might be able to get a letter of support from council (might might). We are just councilor's whipping boys. I will ask today. The more people that show the better

I think we tried to do this at dolls but the council said no as the sign itself posed a risk to people!

LE you are right on all counts.
All Goldy kiters should be there to show how seriously we take this and how we are all willing to compromise if need be.
It is about time that the "kite shops", schools take this all seriously and unify the front -> sales and lessons aren't going to be very important if the sport is banned. We need to mature our sport over here like WAKSA has in WA. They are very lucky to have so many shops and schools willing to dig in and get involved.
The 21st it is at nobbys - more power to ya.
