great day to skip all my lectures.

spent about an hour stuffing around almost about to give in when at about 2:30 the wind just turned on and i had 3hours of 18-22knots and clean 3' waves all to myself.

landed my first 1/2 backroll nicely on my head too.

It was nice down at Dolls, averaged around 12-15knots from approx 3pm till dark.
I had a great session on the 13M Instinct, other people out were on 16M CB, 16M SB, 16M BFK, and there was an 1120Arc (maybe 840) and I think there was a 12M SB too. So it was a small crowd.

It seems like the 13M Instinct has a similar bottom end to a 16M SB, if it is allowed to fly off the fronts, pulling me on a 1.52 x 44cm FLX, and weighing in around 75kg wet.
I even managed to time it right in a couple of gusts and get decent jumps.

Tested the safety again, let the bar go on the beach at the end of the session - kite flies to the edge then falls to the far edge of the window. Relaunch is not as easy as bridled bows, but it will reverse off the water/beach if you pull on both rear leaders. It requires a different technique, definately does not like mto have a lot of one leader pulled in when attempting relaunch, although it is fine to do this in stronger winds.

It would have been nice with 5 more knots in that NE wind,
the old 1120arc wasnt really pulling too well during the lulls and boy that water is getting cold.

The guy with the grey 16SB did a self launch, can you do them in 25knts?

The 12 was a 5 line C type, the young kiter must have been carrying 45kg.

I had plenty of time to watch waiting for the wind to strengthen

G'day Eigthfootplus

It was not quite enough for for you, bummer, you had a surfboard too didn't you?
The bow kites can all be launched like that, although no-one would launch that size in 25 knots.
The young girl on the Vegas, it was a 14M 06, and she was trying out her new "big" board a stock 1.42 Underground FLX, she probably weighs in around 50 -55kg wet.
All the other kites that were staying upwind were 16's, the guy on the yellow CB was on a 1.35x38 board, the rest of us were on 1.52 x 44 Underground FLX's.
The water still has a couple of degrees to drop yet, I was still fine in a shorty wetsuit and a hottop.
Hopefully we will get a bit more of that NE today/tomorrow.
