Has anyone done it? Has anyone tried it at Suttons beach at night? The beach is illuminated quite well.

you can kite when its dark in Port Melbourne right alongside the pier where the Spirit of Tasmania births as the big spottys shine onto the water, Its a bit hairy some times as you have to stay close to the pier.

So it actually is fun? I have seen it done at suttons beach before on a well lit night and it was apparently 'very visible' as there are floodlights which light the beach up. It looked pretty fun.

What would you do for extra illumination? wack a strobe to your shoulder and stick a red and blue cyalume on each edge of ya kite? lol

We Stuck Glow Sticks to the tops of our masts when we were doign it windsurfing... just stick one thru the pump leash attachment... or one on each tip so you can see those kiteloops :-P and then one on the back of your harness...
heading down to brighton all day on Friday, so is Kurt... theres still a bit of moon out :-P

For an added rush I recommend you burley up first and why not throw some mackeral in your wetty (under you boardies) too.

Trant and I did Longy from 6:30 til 10:30pm on the last full moon -- no problem -- actually it's easier on an overcast night cause the city lights reflect off the clouds and give you a much more even light distribution. With the full moon it's bright going out but you can hardly see a thing coming back. It's the unbroken waves that eventually nail ya, cause ya can't seem em. Light reflects off the whitewater from broken waves and you can navigate by that. Easily do-able.

has anyone been chased around by a shark? i've just heard about one incident at suttons beach where someone was being stalked on a night kite sesh. He thought it was the most fun 15 mins he has ever had.
