Jacko I've been using the surefire for a while now with no dramas, but there has been a couple of postings on kiteforum about a possible recall due to problems. I did take mine apart gave it a clean,sprayed it with silicone lubricant and afterwards the hookwas spining all the way round but I hadn't tightened it up enough The fact that if you do have dramas with the system or with your harness the kite is gone with it so I'm glad you managed to recover yours. Contact the slingshot rep via their website and take it back to the place of purchase.

If your using it as a suicide leash, the clips are not the best (they seem good) but they can come open when under a great deal of strain so its probably better to replace the clips with something a bit more secure.
