Hi Folks,

I hope some of you guru's can help us out here. I got a Rev 9 and it looks like one of my outer lines is a little longer than the other.

At first I thought it was one of my inside lines as my kite was pulling to one side.

I measured the front lines and they are the same. when I measured the back lines one is slightly longer, about 1 inch difference.

Some guy on the beach said to tie a figure 8 in the line to shorten it.

1) If I do that, how much strength will I loose in the lines?

2) I have also had advice to just connect the longer line to the next knot up on the pigtail??

Any advice would be really appreciated

Guru Optons - Glad to help

1. Buy new kite with one side longer

2. Hang from tree till one arm gets longer bananas may help

3. With spare bananas - lure a pig with shorter tail & attach to kite

4. Measure all line lengths including knots from bar & pigtails then attach lines to fence under load (pre stretch) & check again. Its easier to go one knot down on bar - in case you fly different kites.... I'd go no. 3 though

i had the same problem like a week ago. though mine was in the front line. i have just tied a knot. i dont think this will be a problem because over the last year i have managed to create two unintensional knots.

or you could just buy replacement slingy lines. set u back abit though

aahhhh....do you mean tie a knot in your LINE its self or on the pigtail???/

adjust line difference at the pigail DO NOT make any knots in your flying lines, they will snap for sure, maybe not first session but wont be long after.
A knot in your flying lines reduces strength by 50%.

I might have misunderstood your post but if someone told you to tie a knot in your lines DONT listen to them

Tie a knot in leader line to compensate for the longer line.
Don't tie any knots in your flying lines as this will weaken them.

Have you check under the floats on the bar, some kites give you additional knots to counter for line length changes. They are sometimes inside the floats so if you slide them up the line you can get access to the additional knots.

Have the same problem with one of my back lines on Rev2 13m.
1. Could use use pigtails on all lines to even out any different lengths and keep an eye on all over time.
2. Follow the procedure on this Slingshot video on how to stretch lines.

Don't like the idea of tying knots in leaders much, except as a last resort.

i have knots on my outside lines, but to compensate for the longer flying line i just set the inside lines on the different knots on the bridle.

Knots in your flying lines are not good - best to remove them before they break. I missed a knot in a new set of lines cause I was in a hurry to get out. Decent wind. Did a tiny jump off the back of a wave. Broken front line caused powered up kite and (probably luckily) broke the outside bridle line as well (also new). Long boring self rescue back to shore.

Thanks for the advice guys

Moved up one knot on front line and stretched back line a little. Seems ok

Also the Slingshot instructional video on strtching lines said it was cool to tie a figure 8 in the lines. Mind you they only spoke about front lines.
