I think I can see where you possibly went a little wrong in your approach. Grandparents should not just die.....

As the weather warms up, you need to subtly mutter something under your breath, like "Hmmm, I don't think my Grandma will make Christmas this year...!"

You have now initiated several excuses like "My Grandma has been told she has days to live... I MUST go and be by her side for her last days on this Earth". Result: 1-2 days off.

Repeat the above step 3 times when the arrows turn green. Result: 3-6 days off.

After repeating 3 times, use the "Grandma died, she was Irish" Result: 1 day off - funeral, 1 day off - Wake.

Total time off: 8 days per Grandparent. 32 days total.

Remember, return to work muttering about your Grandpa not seeing his next birthday...

I took a real sick day off Monday, and got a phone call from the MD which I didn't take, then an SMS from him asking me to come in even if it was quote "drugged up to the max", then another phone call from some one in the office.

That was the first sick day in like 6 months.

I can't even take a holiday until March and that hasn't even been signed off, and I've got 6 weeks owed.

Industrial Relations!

This is what I'm trying next: Go to work with some talcum powder
and when the wind picks up rub some on your face and go around saying you are feeling REALLY bad and you are going home.

PS: Let me know if it worked well.

I took a sick day today to pick up my new 16m Crossbow (got the 12m SSTD - but the 16s aren't in town 'til February). Went down to Rye to give it a go - LOVE IT. It was about 10knots and I was boosting heaps while the other couple of guys were struggling just to keep going.

Never have to do the walk of shame again, it just cruises upwind without even trying.

I am in love. It gives me more pleasure than the bird I've been seeing and I don't have to talk to it when I'm finished (...I just choose to).

But back to the topic... after 3-4 hours on the water, I'll be knackered tomorrow. So it ties in nicely with the whole 'recovery' from the mystery illness thing.

Cheers

Hey Andrew - How much do you weigh and what board size are you using (length & width)?

Not that I want to cast aspersions - but boosting big in 10 knots - I'm sceptical. How did you measure the wind? At Rye in a northerly, any measurement on the beach is inaccurate - I was down there Monday and there was definitely more wind up top - probably 3-5knots more.

I'm thinking about SSTD or XBow & given I finish work tomorrow & am about to take 3 months+ off I'll have a chance to test their performance...all power to you that you can afford 2 bow kites...I just cant justify it - especailly as I already have a full C quiver.

Hi Plow

I'm 85kg and I was on a Underground Flex 42 at first, but then switched back to my Naish Thorn 135, which is a lot skinnier, because I found I didn't need my light wind board (and I can't seem to get my feet secure in the straps on the 142)

By 'heaps' I didn't mean to suggest 'huge' - I'd say about 15ft. I only meant that I could jump anytime I wanted to, and didn't have to rely on waiting for a gust. I probably should have been more careful in my choice of words But I had no trouble with the light wind - and I can assure you it was light: my CO2 17m would have fallen out of the sky on numerous occassions (I know from bitter experience).

I don't want to start the whole 'bow v C' debate yet another time, but for me, they are brilliant! (BTW I've a 17m CO2 for sale -see gear section)

Cheers

Andrew
