Not kited it myself, but spoke to someone a few years back who had - he said the more southerly the better.

Looks like kliting is now banned according to the www.nswkba.com.au google map kite location page. Its certainly a busy stretch of water, loads of yachties and a number of sea planes take off and land on it. Before you rig up ask at the Palm Beach life saveras and at the Pittwater Jetty if its OK - Palm Beach North is a good spot in the right conditions and we dont want a blanket ban.

Hi Vader

I use to kite there alot I lived at Newport until we moved to WA. It's not to bad on a south west wind, it can get pretty gusty at times. I found on the northern end of the golf course is not bad. Launch off the beach there, I've had some pretty good kites.
When it blows north west it can be good up past the jetty and into the corner there it can howl into there.
Remember your safety if its strong it dosen't have much time to settle on the water so it will be gusty and you can get some strong bullets.
Give it a crack JB, Big wave Dave and the boys will no doubt be up there.

It's ok but very gusty. You've got to have your wits about you and keep an eye out for the seaplane. You've got to steer way clear of the seaplane.
