I'm not sure where you get your info from, but I think its a littel off.
Yes there are sharks, but name an ocean with none. Worry about driving a car around, the injuries are just as bad, if not worse, and it happens EVERY day. Unlike our average of 1 shark related death over the year.
Crap wind!!! In 4 weeks time it'll be November, and by then we will be getting pretty consistent seabreezes. That is a South Westerly, from mostly anywhere between 15-25knots. And it is lovely. Refer to the sticky abut seabreeze as well.
Anywhere on our coast is good to kite pretty much. Just keep a look out for signs that tell us not to. We don't want to get the sport banned.

Hey Georg
Fremantle is a great starting place. Yes a car is pretty much essential. I dont know of any backpackers or similar which are walking distance to a kite beach; possibly Scarborough?
Suggest you check out www.waksa.org.au for a growing list of site guides which will give you all the gen on where, when & how for each popular kite beach; along with lots of other WA news & events notices.
Hope you enjoy your holiday.
