Cheer up "icandowhatiwant" kite action is different from surfing and (mostly) the people are cool. Thats why i like it.
I think you would be better on a board! you could have your little secret spots and run around with all the rest of the heros ripping it to pieces. No shortage of aggressive territorial behavour there. Hell you even play your cards right you can have a fight or even better abuse a learner for getting in your way.
