Ijmuiden, yep been there. Its at the far end of North Sea Canal and is Hollands biggest fishing port. Heaps of boats heading out to catch Hearing, the local fish. Great pickled or fresh salted. You should try one with a beer handy. Your closet major town is Haarlem were you will see plenty of kiteboarders all the way down the coast to Hoek Van Holland and up the coast to Den Helder. Most of the kiteboarders do it in the North Sea as the Ijsselmeer (the bay) can get quite crowded with pleasure craft. Scheveningen is the most popular area as they have a cool kiteboarding shop nearby, recommend a visit. Best time is now till the end of September, and you will still need a steamer as the water is quite cool all year. Ive been over a few times now visiting family, and always manage to get a few kites in. The woman are beautiful, people are mostly freindly although alot of Germans and French visit and can be quite rude. If your trip is a short one its best to hire, good luck.
