Hay all,I am considering purchasing a pair of sunny's to wear when kiteing,to protect the old eye balls from spray n glare etc.'Sea Specks' have a special at the moment...buy 2 get 1 pair for free,(US $55 each)Looks like a good deal cause I have 2 teenager's that are learning to kite so 3 pairs for the price of 2 looks good.Sea Specks has this special on their website so it will be an 'online purchase'.Any thoughts on the subject of water sunny's as I am not up to speed on quality or function from any of the brands on the market to date......Roo

I have picked up this deal 2 times, delivery was with in a week. The glasses are really good. But when you crash hard they do come off( hence the 2 times taking up the 2 for 3 offer.)I have taken to attaching them with on a string under my rashie to my harness.

um, for three years i've been using my uvex discovery safety glasses.
1)free 2)uv protection
and the water pair i bought for my first lesson all those years ago sunk within 2mins of hitting the water.

If you want to look cool, then i can't help

sea specs r ok but no matter what i put on them i can't get the water to bead off them enough and end up ripping them off anyway.

Try and put some rainx on them to stop the water beading, you can buy it from most servo stations.
I ware Doggies(sundogeyeware.com)and have had no problems with them.
I tie a line to them to the back of a hole in my rash shirt for the big wipeouts, as with all water eyeware no matter how good the strap, they will come off.
I had a pair of seaspecs but found they seemed to fog up a fair bit,so had to keep stopping and dipping in the water to clear them.
My doggies never seem to fog, dont know why they dont but seaspecs did, maybe lenses made from different stuff???dont know.
good luck rooey

I tried sea specs I tried rainex toothpaste dish washing liquid and they kept fogging up. Went out and bought 15 dollar safety specs and never had a problem since

US $55 - does this mean you're going to buy them os on the net?
give your kids a future and buy them locally-plus you can see if they'll fit good too
keep our cash in our country
take cash to your retailer and haggle a bit - cash is king in negotiations.
OPSM have sunnies for $15 buy 10 pairs as when you kite with sunnies even when they're taped to your face with duct tape you loose them...

Likewise - in the past I have always gone the sunglass leash option along with the security of being fully 'strapped' in.
But this season Im thinking its time. Time to ditch that leash. And I might even go real HARD CORE - "strapless" as well. Yeah.
Just cos I can - Gggrrrrrr [}:)]

Oakley water jackets (with prescription) plus a gath helmet over the top. They will never come off and never break with this setup, water still beads fine and no scratches after 2.5yr of use kiting and surfing. More expensive but you get what you pay for.

GO to a dive shop, pick up some sea drops, just ask for sea drops they'll know what ur on about. or anti-fog drops.

works like a charm, i've used on sunnies, snorkel mask, windscreen, even my night vision goggles.

and as for sunnies, dont look like a tool, get innovative and get odyssey 20/20 sunnies, made by kitesurfers for kitesurfers. with spring loaded hinges to mould and glue to ur nugget.

thanks for the opinions lads....yes I would rather keep the bucks in Oz.....I'll checkout the Odyseys,Oakleys and the Blueye.....yea always a lottery buying online without a test run.....don't care about what looks the best, its what ya are that counts, not what ya appear to be is the old saying, anyways the thing that seems to be the common factor is that most of the styles fog up...In the old days when cars had shonky windscreen wipers,or none, people would rub a cut potato on the glass to stop water beading, perhaps one could try it on the kiteing goggles....cheers, Roo

I rubbed a potato on my $10 kiting sunnies at the start of last summer and all fogging issues evaporated. Good trick. I just got that 3 for 2 sea specs deal, hope they're ok.

i bought the seaspecs last year. great idea and they work well, only problem is you will lose them in surf/massive wipeouts.

last two pairs in two weeks last year. time to buy something local-er.

have had really good experience with Sundog's (aprox ~ $90)

I used to own a pair of OceanEyeWear, but they made my eyes "tired"... amazing looking through the sundog's... I use the non polarised ones...

Neck leash for sunnies: +1
Saved my sunnies yesterday in Lano
