New pump that came with kite packed up for no reason suddenly - used for about 5 weeks. Same thing happened to a friend a few weeks back - same pump.

It worked the previous session, and it did not pump the next time we used it. Don't recall anything major, other than the usual chuck in the back of the car and run...

Note: Yes, I am to cheap to go buy another one and feel slightly cheated that a new pump would die so quickly.


What's wrong? I can blow air straight through from inflate to deflate and it does not generate any pressure when pumping. I have unscrewed and cleaned it, checked all the seals etc... it looks perfectly normal inside...

Anyone had similar problems and solved it? very weird. Since there is two of us with the same problem in a short while, I thought someone may have had a similar experience and come up with a solution... or at least found out what's wrong.

what brand was it, flexi foil?

Take it back to the retailer-under Australian consumer legislation it's still under warranty.

Well i left my newish cabrinha pump kiting at coloundra the other day.. So i bought a cheapy pump from a shopping centre.. Went to wellington point for a kite new years day .. early and still hung over..The new pump couldnt pump a strut and then a few more pumps the the main shaft snapped...Straight in the bin...Wrecked the morning by not able to kite wello for the first...Top spot..

I had exactly the same problem. Cabrinha pump.
2 months old, but pretty well used.
No idea how to fix either, my seals etc all seem ok & I can blow through it either way.

Went to Ranger Camping as local instructor said just as good. $29.95 later I have a yellow 2x2000ml pump that I reckone is EXACTLY the same as the Cabrinha. It seems that Cabrinha just buy these guys pump, add their decals/logo plus a couple of holes & the string/knob thing & away they go.

If someone does work out how to fix please post it. I reckon it is probably something minor & guess it is the valve the directs air between chambers. I'll have a fiddle one day when there is no wind.

Another of my dodgy repair suggestions that works for me.
Fill it with warm to hot clean soapy water and then pump a bucket of this water through it.
It might also be good to put a bit that greasy stuff back on the seals and the pump shaft and inner casing afterwards, but most of it will still be there.

My cabrina pump did the same thing and i managed to fix it
what you need to do is unscrew the bottom part of the pump (the large disc), inside the shaft you will find a smaller tube, take this out clean it and push back in as hard as you can, re assemble pump and test, if this works take apart again as that same part will come loose again, super glue the inside of this tube and push back up again

There is a secondary tube inside the main stem
this is for the the return air
sometimes it becomes dislodged
and if you cant separate the main stem from
the handle or base
Its stuffed!!
I'd also bet they all come from the same factory!!

Borrow one from another kiter at the beach - ask a friend if they have a spare, since new kites come with one usually, most kiters will have a couple at least. Except me, i keep busting them too. And the Coleman brand ones are nood good aren't designed for very high pressure and the top just pops of on the upstroke.
