hi i'm after a s/h kite for perth conditions, i was thinking the 07 slingshot link (12m) so far, but i'm open to suggestions.

im 73kg and just started riding up wind easily at the end of last season.

if this 'link' has the 'red bridal' setup? i've read a bit into the problems with the setup the kite was originaly shipped with. if it doesnt have the red bridal setup can do i get it shipped out for free(?) dont suppose there are any slingshot reps on these forums that can anwser that for me..

also, could this kite be a bit big for perth conditions? (again im 73kg). i've been riding a 10m gaastra for a few years and most of the time been underpowered, but the wind range has supposedly improved since that was manufactured (think it's an 03)

Lots of good gear out these days. Most of the gear I've ridden from the major manufacturers is good if not getting similar.

Don't know if Perth is a one kite town though. Many here ride 12m on most days, but when it gets windy and it does get windy, then we get out our 9m and smaller....recon you might get away with a 10m though.

I would have to agree with the general consensus above. At 73kg a twelve is probably a bit big, I weigh about 95kg and think a 12 is just about right for me for a one kite quiver. I had a 10 and 14 last year and liked and probably rode my 10 more than the 14. As your kiting improves you can get away with a smaller kite and kites just keep getting gruntier each year. I have just purchased a 9 and a 13 for this season and they have more power than my 10 and 14 from last year.
The Tribal 2's are a great kite and Sam's 9mtr would be worth a look, I'm sure it would have more power than your Gaastra.
P.S. I have got a 07 10mtr Flow SLE for sale for that would suit you too but haven't got around to posting a for sale add yet.

what exactly is a kite bridle? is it the whole kite itself, or a section of the kite?

is the bridle of a kite the lines that connect the bar's lines to the actual kite?

i think because my gaastra is a C shaped kite it doesnt have bridle lines, probably why i didnt know what they were.

anyone know if im on the right track?

Yep your on the right track the bridle attaches your lines to your leading edge on bows and hybrids, check out this photo of the bridle on my 10mtr Flow that is up for sale. www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=6394 .
