Yeah, go and stand in the corner for 10 mins mate!

Rich down here was able to self launch our 12 yesterday by folding the kite at the second strut and sanding it.

yea ya all just jealous[}:)] although i did over do it a bit just a rush o blood i guess.
Truth is strugglin with the bar pressure on the 12, it is startin to give me the ****s...i can not ride one handed. It is not so bad on the 16m but ya should give these things a test ride before you buy.
Happy to give anyone a go

fark richo you should try my 15m setup one day, then you can complain about bar pressure. I thought the bow bar looked good, then i used it and though, its too long, this depower is ****, if i bought this kite i would have to completely rebuild the bar to make it half decent. Too much hassle.

I have the twelve crossbow I find the bar pressure is far far less then the pressure the legs have to have hanging on in gust and on the body also when riding in chop the depower and power range is so much that i find it effortless compared to a arc kite however some time i do like to ride on the ball just no effort kiting

fixing bar pressure of crossbow kite if its a problem.

so what i have done is as follows
1 took a old wipika red tab quick release safety loop the one with the pin
1 leader extension
1 of those slingshot claws the ones you open with your thumb its on the end of most safetys these days

then i put one end of the leader with the claw on it and the other end of the leader the wipika pin then tie the wipika quick relese to my harness hook it has a cross bar on it above the hook so it does not hassle or hinder in any way
so when i ride as you would be aware the crossbow bar has a metal loop that comes out near the bars cntre i just hook to that
and it takes all the pressure and holds the bar if i needed to get rid of it in a hurry pull the red wipika tab and bam just push the bar away and your safety is working

sorry i have had to write this in a hurry
i will come and fix it up later but it works fantastic oh i do ride the bar upside down so the metal bar is at the top

Put a slingy stopper ball above the bar ,for scarey sh#ty wind just unscrew the damn thing , and for depower just edge. remember the old days when there was 2 line kites ? - edge.

You youngies never had it soo goood

When i was a young fella...............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hey Richo

I spent the last two nights r*****g around in my workshop with a few different ideas for a better XBow Bar setup.

Dave has been complaining a fair bit about the pressure when using his 16 Bow. I have been a bit concerned as I have one on the way from Kitepower and suffer from tennis elbow at times (yep I'm an old prick)

Anyway I worked out a fairly simple way to construct a pulley bar that not only gives similar depower to the XBow Bar but also lets you ride one handed (or no handed if you want to). Also makes the steering very light. Almost like power steering.

I took my 13.5 Yarga down to Shearwater today and tried it out on that. Worked fine although the wind was very light.

Dave had just done a downwinder from Len Fox to Shearwater and I hooked up my new bar setup to his 16 XBow.

His eyes nearly popped out of his head. I rode accross to the other side of the Brodwater and back with one hand just resting on the bar and let go completely and waved to him with both hands for about 50 meters.

The design will need some improving and refining but it will solve all our problems I think. Will give you a go of the prototype if you are around tomorrow arvo. I am off to Yamba on Friday and then down to Port MacQuarie and Coffs Harbour for a few more days next week.

I was hoping the new 16 Bow would arrive in time but it looks like there is not much chance of that. Damn !

Bravo guys, and thanks for the post!

I had also thought of paulios idea and will use it next time there is calm wind. Looking at the rig just now, and paulio..I think if you just hollowed out the plastic SS screw ball thingy it would fit over the black part of the Cab. push out ball...did you do this?

Fitzy, your solution sounds interesting and I can't wait to hear more.

Gruezi i dont have a xbow-wow but just thought it would keep it simple , yeah maybe hollow out the ball a little.
And if a you cop a floggin and cant punch out caus that ball is there that just adds to the fun.People can pay a lot of money at fun parks for a scare and we get it for free...

P.S fitzy did u have a snorkle n mask when you were in ur workshop? caus i heard you had a large spa after that rain

i put in the slingy stopper and connected a bungy to the power line in case i gotta bail out, hope to try it morrow.

wow fitzy that sounds magic. Cabrina will release the power lock sometime in the next 4 weeks. That is what that metal bit on the bar is for. So i guess with that the problem should go away. But fitzies solution sounds better. Hay fitzy i rode every day for five days last week and my elbow is still sore.

Saturday looks like it is going to rock

Large spa is an understatement. I had 1.5 meters of water through the boatshed and workshop. Stuffed all the power tools but a good excuse to buy shiny new ones.

The jet skis and kiteboards were OK though, they just floated around till the water went down
