i've got a safety leash that comes off a wrist band and is connected to one of my kite lines, when i let go of the bar the bar shoots halfway up the line and the kite looses all power, so it works but it's a real pain to untangle the twisted lines after.. and i use the quick release a bit

I have seen other people with a system where they let go of the bar and the bar only goes a metre or so away and the kite floats down without wrapping itself up. I've never had a chance to ask someone with this setup what the difference is, it seems like my wrist band way is no where near as good.. is it simply a case of moving the stopper ball down or is it a different system?

whats the verdict? I realise that the wrist band way gets u tangled up when u twist under the kite, to fix this can i attach my leash to a loop of rope on the back of my harness? And then attatch the leash to that?

i'm riding either a 11m or 15m 05 4 line fuel

cheers

Hi I also have a fuel with this set up , I changed it and just attach the leash line to my harness with a QR of course, and adjust the stopper ball on the starboard back line , and drop the kite a few times and watch it depower do this to test the new positon out, I brought mine down the line about 2 metres I think.

hope that helps

slingshot has a good stoppoer ball you can add to the lines.

Just make sure you put it far enough up to make sure the biggest kite you want to ride and lie out pretty much flat (i.e. deflated) otherwise your safety wont be very safe at all!

You could put a stopper ball on the line that leashes out - make sure it is at least the span of your largest kite away from the bar, otherwise the kite will just spiral down until it hits the ground and you'll be propa fooked.

But, if your riding an 05 fuel, put a 5th line system on it - this attaches to the centre of the leading edge and when you release to safety or let go of the bar (when unhooked) the bar rides up the line the kite will die, drop over and land in the water on its back ready to be relaunched. Easy Peasy.

I wasn't a fan until I used it, but its the bomb, its no extra hassle to setup. Slingy did a retrofit kit spefically for added to that year, you should still be able to get one - talk to your local dealer.

Thats a 5th line system. unless your kite can accept this you cant have this feature.

Macca is right its a 5 line system you have seen.
Putting a stopper ball on your current system which is using a side line as a leashed line will not stopp the tangles or enable you to relaunch easily, but a good 5 line system will.

You can buy a Slingy Oneline kit, of you can buy a whole new bar and lines. The Oneline kits are approx $249, but you can get a complete 5 line/bar set from us for $299, while stocks last.
The Oneline kit is made to fit your bar, and would be the neatest, simplest option for you.

you are no orphan with this issue

a back line safety will send kite into a spin

would be better if attached to front line, however slingy didnt take up this issue, except with later turbo diesel bars

go the fifth line safe and dependable

but if 5th line goes a stray such as releasing the "wave grenade" system, still need a back up system-back line OSH = big mess

raised this with slingy, nice to have front line clip

a friend has (did have) that setup on a RRD kite 15.... It failed in 15 knot winds ..it snapped strings (2) as it dragged him along the beach ...also took some of my skin with it trying to get it on the ground ....not one of the best safety systems i have seen... i recomend you change it as soon as you can afford to...

If you attach the leash to your harness make sure you have a QR on it. if you get something stuck in your lines, or get them in a mess its likely the kite wont depower onto 1 line and go shooting off down the beach followed closely by you.

even on my bow kite I have had my lines tangle up and the kite not flag out properly into its backline.

only rpoblem i find is once u let go if oyur not hooked in its a bitch 2 swim escpecially with seaweed around...
