I think you should learn what wind works at a certain location before you learn to railey blind.

Of course it would be terrible. If you go riding in an offshore breeze the wind will be turbulent from trying to flow through and over all those big blocky things called apartments and buildings. Not to mention the prospect of you ending up in Rye or dragged up against someone's yacht or St Kilda pier. Going out in those conditions is just plain foolish.

The best place would be down in Rye or at Pt Wilson in Geelong.

NW = Brighton
SW = St Kilda/Altona
SE = Altona
N = Brighton

There are more spots, but those are going to be the easiest for you to ride.

anyway

saint kilda isnt just for beginners

beginers just go there because it is close to the city and has lots of space, people are really nice and it is a very user freindly beach.

Yep tomorrow is going to be epic, but sorry mate, I've got to teach linx R2B first

lostinlondon... wouldn't have said todays condtions of W-NW were foolish, but then some people have a pretty narrow comfort zone. From my observation everyone left several hundred meters between themselves and the pier so plenty of time to get out of trouble, boats are no more of an issue in todays conditions than in a SW.

Conditions were crap cause it was gusty, the direction was fine.. least we got wet eh!!!

West you can kite at most places, but its direct onshore. Be weary of westerlies, most prone to squall winds.
