Its not hush-hush any more , there was an article about it in the Sunday times .

Sounds like the new owner is keen for it to happen , I guess the man wants a return on his investment and is looking to promote the place now .

Unfortunately it seems its about the dollar again .

keep signing petitions rang up rip curls head office spoke to mark they are looking at the support againt there plans and are reconsidering keep it up all helps

Just shows how far corporate surf companies such as Rip Curl have moved away from the interests and understanding of the everyday surfer. "The Search" for more $$$$ continues.

Billabong had a comp up there and made a great video of it - called the Billabong Challenge.

I think it was in 1996, and there were about 8 surfers in it. Occy, Margo, Patto, Rubbo.... I think Machado beat Slater in the final and it there were some fantastic waves being had. It looked like a low key kind of thing with some good stories and great footage and a bit of a story.
