Your joking? Lozza will inform us either way nonetheless...

People conduct, behaviour and attitude in these forums need to improve anyway, and if it's too hard for them to do this, then they shouldn't be a part of these forums.

Hi,

The forum has gone to the dogs recently due to a couple of kids who keep registering hotmail.com accounts and posting abusive and crude posts.

All their posts are being deleted, and the accounts cancelled. Easy peasy.

Don't panic... the forums aren't going away anywhere!

Laurie

Glad to hear that mate, this is a top site and is invaluable especially for newbies like myself. Its just a shame that the immaturity of a few school children can upset the balance. Here is hoping that they go back to pulling the legs off spiders or discover the opposite sex soon.

A big thanks to all for the time and effort in running and contributing to this site.

Laurie,

I was of the understanding that you had to register with a legit personal email rather than a free (hotmail style) account as was the case when I first registered.

Is this still the case?

couple of options here - dont accept free email accounts like hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc, so you must use a personally identifying email such as the one you use at work or your ISP issued address.

You might also be able to ban IP addresses or blocks if your forum software has this feature, other wise your isp might be able to help however this could be disruptful if you need to ban blocks.

You could also register a complaint with malicious users ISP's and see if they get disconnected altogether - this might piss the parents off enough to suspend their little darlings internet activity...

Hey laurie, i know i was one of the idiots for a while - but i support the non-hotmail thing... all students in qld have their own school emails they can use to register ([email protected]) ,so once theyve made one account, they can't do another because you can only get the one school email addy...

Thats cool for people who have got one or are at school, i think it would be rather unfair descriminating against the people that are without.

assmaster - Your ISP always provides you with an e-mail address, so that is one option. There is also the school e-mail, uni e-mail or work e-mail. There are many possibilities

For a while we didn't accept hotmail/yahoo/etc accounts because of a few people, but it causes so much support email with people "debating" the point, so it's easier to accept them

In the history of the forums, there have probably been only 3 or 4 people that use the anon accounts to "have fun" and wreck it... I'd reckon the forums are great fun and useful 98% of the time.

I fully expected it to go a little bodgy over winter because of no wind. Just happened a little earlier!

Enjoy ! .. Lozza
