You shouldnt stress on it gavo.
Humans are the brussel sprouts of a sharks culinary preferences.
And I reckon you would be particularly sour

See you at KITESTOCK

Forget about the sharks for Kee-riste sake!!

You've got more chance of being stung to death by bees, trampled by a cow, killed by a dodgy kebab, run over by a bus, abducted by aliens... etc etc.

Get over it or stay on land.

I don't think you guy's know Gavo or your not reading what he posted. He's a professional surfing photographer who's spent more serious swimming time in reefs and deep waters than any of you. He's posting a serious question no doubt because he perceives a serious threat on the job he's doing this weekend. And he would know. I've watched him in action and he's certaily no sissy.

Shark attack is covered by workers' compo, if it happens on the job, don't worry... you're covered.

I heard a story once (on bandcamp)... A guy was attacked by a shark at work, he got a set of plastic kneecaps and a compo payout!

OK...he worked in a garage and it was a loan-shark. Same difference!

gavo

if you feel more secure using a shark shield go for it.

I grew up on the beach and have had some very scary moments with big black blury things in the water, praying to the big man....

i,m sure if i was ever attacked i,d want all the help i can get.... especially in sharky waters...

Ben,
Just for the record mate,no offence taken with your comments,Im not THAT serious.I know all the statistics with shark attacks and unfortunately a number of shark incidents have a been a bit too close to home for my liking.
Ive had a mate attacked in South Africa,by a great white, hes lucky to be alive after nearly losing his leg,and another buddy who had to carry ,what was left of his mate, a couple of K s up a surf track, close to where Ill be filming on the weekend.
And it was only last year that I was chased out of the water by a (small) shark, whilst filming without a shark shield.
So I guess I have good enough reason to take things seriously,if Im going to be dangling in the water all day.

Gavo,

no one here doubts you do a great job, and no one here is unaware of the dangers presented (even though they may be personaly unaffected).

The "keep it fun" moto of seabreeze.com.au ensures that we all have somewhere to come and drain-down/crow/enquire/socialise/joke/etc without it becoming dramatic.

The jokers, that got your blood pressure up, also had the effect of keeping your post close to the top of the list, this had the effect of more people seeing it, and this got the result that you sought. If you had posted on a busy day, when no one could offer serious help, your post would have quietly slid off of the first page and only been read by a few diehard forum readers. The jokers would have helped you if they could and, in their way, they did.

This is the internet, after all, don't take it too seriously. If we did we'd all have an 18 inch+ penis, huge breasts, more sex than hours in the day, a Rolex, and untold wealth in the bank. Lets face it... what the hell could anyone do with 18+!!!

That's the way Azza - See my smart arse comments do have a use, they keep the topic active!

Cheers Gavo, if I had those experiences behind me, I'd be a very keen fan of lawn bowls in the wheat belt mate. Respec for still working and playing in the big briney.
