hay guys the state member has just contacted our office and will soon be sending a request to the dep of transport complaining of an illegal structure in the creek.

The little servant of the masses from dep of tran will come down all full of crap in his head about doing good and will start passing out quite hefty fines. Perhaps you should back off for a bit. Also under the circumstances i can see no way to get approval even for a temporary structure at this location.

It seems to me if someone wipes out on the slider there is a chance the kite could come down amoung the kids on the beach. Anyway that is not my area of concern it is a Dep of tran issue. But look out the bad man is coming

happy kiting

^^good arguement.

I'm sure whoever is in charge will agree with your reasoning.

fact is, if it's against the law it's against the law. Don't put your trash there in the first place and jeopardise riding for all

I reckon jumping and doing dingle dangle tricks inside the alley is far more dangerous than riding a kicker or slider in there. The guys that are riding and own the slider all have at least two years experience and are very competant riders ( unlike some of the guys there) I have seen at least double the amount of people sliding up the beach out of control after doing a BIG jump or learning to do a transition. The way i see it is if your going to do jumps or are learing stick to the outside of the alley or the broadwater if you want to ride flat water. Its these people who are F@*cking it up for the others not the guys riding the slider.

Get it.

The ****en slider/ramp is the problem.

E.G. ITS AGAINST THE LAW.

You seem to be pretty good at telling people how they must act and whats cool and whats not, also your lingo is outstanding!

without you telling us what not to do, and how not to speak i belive this could become a legit sport, lets just thank god that your here to police our every move.

I SALUTE you sport police!!!

im pretty sure "kicker" is from skateboarding, not wakeboarding.

And for you guys who have to move the slider i know it sux but join the rest of the real world, i know if i left a massive slider down at my local beach not only would it probably be vandalised or stolen we would be told not to leave it there.

You guys can still use them tho right? you just have to make em transportable...

i thought "kicker" was originally a snowboarding word - similar to "booter" or "table" but hey its all the same...

and yeh - if the council is about the crack the ****s then a bunch of kiters moaning that their slider dont hurt anybody wont count for anything - they'll just find a reason to ban it all together.

just make it mobile.

good idea.
I don't think they could pull you up if its floating, so you could have a floating "kicker" (ramp)

yeah but that would be the biggest pain in the arse to transport around... I do like the size of it though !, but prefer the mobility of mine, it packs down into a small trunk for the bladder and the rails break into three sections 10 feet long...

30 foot of bounce yellow fun in the sun...

I've got an idea for a colapseable floating kicker...

haha true the slider a MEGA ULTRA DEATH pain in the arse to move around, but the kickers both fit on standard trailers so their real easy... we cart them to places 2 hours away.. just stick em in the water.. position anchor and hit em

yea council is not the problem it is the department of transport that will hurt ya.

If you make it mobile at least you got less chance of getting caught.

But it is no drama because who will they fine. Just make sure no one owns up to actually putting in. You were just minding your own bees wax when some dude came along put in this wierd thing. Not your fault you were just using it-not your responsibilty.

but anything that creats a fuss could put kiting at the rock at risk.

Yeah Richo. I have never had the need to build a Ramp/Kicker/Slider. I just find that by going to the surf side a Ramp/Kicker/Slider comes in every couple of seconds. We don't call them Ramps/Kickers/Sliders, we just call them Waves. Cool to jump from or slide on - really !!

If you've never hit one, you wont get it !... Hitting a stationary object flat out and either launching off it or sliding along it, it's a buzz... Same goes for grinding across a beach !.

SK8 park in the water

Kiting has sooo many doors to choose from...

Is the issue that the “slider” is a submerged object in a waterway, or that the guys have gotten a little lazy, and leave it on the beach when not in use?

If it is that it’s a submerged object then I think that you might have some recourse, in that not 50’ from where it is normally placed is a submerged object that the council have placed in the waterway themselves, being the cable that stretches across the creek.

IMHO I think that you may be faced with a “duty of care” issue, if anything does come of this although, you do have one major card to play as far as the councils liability, and that being;

1. It is a shipping channel, and is so posted, and
2. There are signs everywhere stating, “Do not swim here, dangerous ect.”

Which does negate some of the liability of the council, but not all.

Check out the Broadwater, with the ski jumps and find out how they’re allowed to place them there, or act dumb “I dunno whos that is” and don’t leave it on the beach.

Me I’ll go back to doing my dingle dangle jumps and transitions as Booty Boy suggests, although I’ve never been dragged up the beach (touch wood). I did see one of the “experienced” guys utilize the rock wall as a slider Greenleader but he didn’t look at all happy with the effect that it had on his board.

hmmm just get rid of it I don’t use it. . Imagine due to the ongoing problem of kite ramp x showing up and no one owning up to who owns it and other incidents all kiting is prohibited in this area and any person found doing so will be fined I mean that goes on so. Really they can stop us from kiting if we do not be careful they will find a a way to do it. Just do not make it easy by giving them a reason. None of us go and hang at the local shire meetings to protect kiting. and I know I ant going to start so if you are not there to vote against a ban who is going to.
What about skateboarding you can’t do that in many public places and the old shipping channel well you cant skateboard on a highway. It’s easy enough for them to just stitch it up the way they want if you bother them enough.
