hi i'm riding a slingshot kite and have just started doing back rolls. does anyone know how i can stop the safety leash from wrapping around the bar? i've tried moving it from the LE lines to the o-sh!t handles but it stell gets tangled up.

here's a pic of the bar setup, green arrows point to where i can hook the leash:

thanks for your help

if the kites 5 line hook onto that as kite depoowers and fallls out of the sky.. And thats below bar..
or sucide on chicken loop..
Or u could something like the new revs flag out line which is below the bar..

Learn to do back rolls both ways or front rolls as well, then it will untangle. You could also buy a spinning saftey leash spreader bar.

personally I think hooking the leash to the oh-**** handles is way dangerous, get you leash caught up and you in kiteloop city! only ever time I've done it has been in big surf and silly winds when i wanted to know for sure the kite would flag off the steering line if i binned it.

try hooking it to the depower strap abover the black toggle bit on the end, but the best way is to do rolls both ways.

Connect below the bar, i.e.

suicide on chicken loop or
depower strap/rope

Get yourself a SS Surefire spreader bar - full spin & QR safety. Solves problems & saves lives at the same time.
Absolute best kite accessory invention EVER.
I wouldnt leave home without one.

hahaha problem solved!! ill give you a call soon, thanks mate

saffer, wouldnt attatching it there be pretty dangerous? it would only slightly depower the kite.. would this be enough in moderate winds? i would think the clip would be ripped off if the kite luffed into the centre of the window and was hit by a gust (this happens at mellvile quite a bit)

surefire spreader looks like the solution, but it'll have to get in line behind a new 9m and my car's insurance. for now i think i'll practice back rolls in both directions

Actually not, its designed to pull through the cleat and bypass the stopper if you connect it there, try it on the beach, it has the same effect as pushing your bar all the way out past the stopper (i.e. max depowered)

anyone know if the surefire spreader stops the safety leash getting tangled if you are connecting the leash to a handlepass system on your harness?

not that i'm going to be doing handle pass systems any time soon, just curious.
cheers
