I have a small tear in my nearly new shorty right on the spot where the neoprene changes into the soft belly part. About 5mm I'd say. Is this repairable? Seems to be at a pressure point so maybe it is likely to get bigger?
make sure you use the right thread though, normal sewing thread deteriorates in water. I ripped my near new steamer about 15cm along the groin seam skiddig up the beach after a crash and took it to a lady in Greenwood who stitched it up and did a great job for only 15 bucks or something like that. been holding up well ever since then.
It does have turn yellow after it cures due to the UV but it will hold. Put a little on both sides of the tear, let it turn tacky then stick the two surfaces back to together and apply pressure until fully set.
Dental floss is great for sewing wetsuits due it being strong and wax coated. So when the glue has cured, sew some dental floss over the tear and then put a little glue over the stitches to ensure they dont go anywhere and it will give them a little wear protection.
Todays instructional video is all about how to repair a wetsuit using black witch adhesive
i followed this, I had the same thing we're the rubber meets the fabric. i didn't have much success, but give it a go, and if it fails take it to a pro
